Residential

Finding Scholl Construction for our dream house was a true blessing. Pete and his team made this custom house project less stressful but more fun and memorable. We are forever grateful with Pete’s professional and honest advice throughout the project. It is also worth mentioning that even our bank was impressed with Pete’s responsiveness to their calls and queries. They said, ‘It’s always a good sign when you can talk directly to the owner and not given the runaround’. Our experience was a little unique since part of our build timeline was in the beginning of the pandemic when everything shutdown except for the essential workers. Despite the challenges, Scholl Construction was able to complete the project as scheduled without compromising the safety of the tradespeople. As a healthcare worker, I admired Pete’s dedication to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Besides Scholl Construction’s trustworthiness and reliability, their workmanship is topnotch!  It has been a little over a year since we moved in, yet we still continue to fall in love with this little abode each day. More power to Scholl Construction!!!!

Mark and Gay – St. Charles , IL

This house features efficient living spaces that maximize the vertical design without sacrificing any of the elements the family desired in their new home. Using a non-traditional footprint, this home is packed with unique design features and finishes that make it a one of a kind.

‘Scholl Construction — You know it’s one thing to entrust what is likely the largest most important purchase of a lifetime with someone you don’t know… It’s yet another to see into the future and be sure you make the right decision. Five Years ago, Scholl Construction built our home. This home came with a lot of special features to adapt for our special needs son and in every single instance our expectations were met or exceeded. From start to finish every component of the project and timeline was explained and adhered to. Here’s the best part… After 5 Years, we have had zero issues with the home!!! I’ve now seen the future and it’s important to take this time to again say, “Thank you Peter!!!” Our home is a spectacular dream come true – you and your team made it all possible!’

This testimonial was written 2 years after the one above… ‘In case you were wondering… We still love this freaking house you built!!!!! Every second, every hour, every day!’

Patrick, Helen and Pat – Carpentersville, IL

The concept of Universal Design in home building is to create spaces accessible to the whole family no matter what age or level of abilities. In the case of this project, the goal of the universal design was to ensure the family’s special needs son could be comfortable in his own home, while his parents are able to age in place.

Two of the three levels in this home incorporate universal design construction features to make the spaces completely accessible. An electric lift system with ceiling tracks enables easy transfer from bed to the specially designed tub to toilet to desk. Hallways are built to be wide enough to accommodate an electric wheelchair. And with an eye to the future, the lower walkout level provides separate living quarters for a caregiver with a complete kitchen, zero-depth shower access and an elevator to the first floor and garage.  Click here to see the gallery for this home.

Commercial Construction

‘Many thanks for the fine and very efficient work. You are a true professional, Peter, and I look forward not to just the next project but maybe more, as God allows! You worked the way building contractors should: efficient, concise and professional. Warmly’

Dr. Todd – Crystal Lake, IL

Scholl Construction was brought in to build a new waiting room and add more examining rooms in what was a large storage area at Caring Family Medical in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Additionally, an office and checkout area completed the remodel. Once that was done, Scholl Construction moved on to renovating other areas and examining rooms in an older section of the building. After completing the commercial remodel, Scholl Construction built this client’s custom, energy efficient home in Bull Valley.

Residential Remodel/Addition

‘We had a difficult time deciding whether or not to move forward with a home addition on our old, historic house. We loved its character but needed more space to make it functional for our family. We didn’t want to ruin any of its charm and worried that the addition would not be seamless.

From our first meeting, we felt like you understood what we wanted to do and how big of a deal this was for our family. We appreciated how detailed you were through every phase of the project both with our budget and ideas for the house. We always felt like we were on the same page with you and that our communication was constant. You and your sub-contractors were respectful of us, which is important with a three and five-year-old, and more significantly we were amazed with the results. Thank you for making our house feel so special and tackling our big project. We LOVE living here.’

Tim and Beth L. – Crystal Lake, IL

The American Legion built this home in Crystal Lake, Illinois in 1929 as a way to raise money. At the time it was described as the Model Electric Home. It was the first all-electric home in the area with all the modern conveniences of the day. The house was open to the public for tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day and was eventually sold by a lottery. The current owners bought the home with the intention of putting on an addition. Scholl Construction was hired to build a 2-car garage with a master suite above that included a bedroom, bathroom and library. The kitchen doubled in size with a modern double oven, built-in gas range, storage, pantry and granite countertops. As many of the original features were kept including rehanging the original chandelier, that was found stored in the basement, into the remodeled kitchen. The key to any addition and especially to a historic home is to seamlessly match the existing surfaces. Scholl Construction was able to match the original stucco finish between the old and the new structures.

Residential

‘I would most certainly recommend you to anyone considering building a custom built home. You did a nice, clean, quality job on our house and we are very pleased. Feel free to list me as a reference.’

Dave – Huntley, IL

This family lived in a 2 story farm house in Huntley, Illinois that was built in 1850. The house burnt down because of an overloaded circuit starting in one of the bedroom walls. The house was 150 years old and the wiring had not been updated. Scholl Construction built a new home after an insurance claim. The 2400 square feet, 2 story, single family home has an open interior. The first floor incorporates a large master suite, a great room with a natural field stone fireplace, kitchen, laundry room, powder room and custom staircase. The owner and his sons collected the field stones from their property for the fireplace.

Commercial Construction

‘Earlier this year I had the opportunity to move my business into a building I recently purchased. I originally accepted 3 separate bids for the project. Scholl Construction’s bid was the most detailed, it was the clearest and easiest to understand and by a happy coincidence it was the lowest. I had a tight timeline to meet and Peter Scholl assured me it was not a problem. During the project Pete was great at keeping me informed as to what was going on and what the next step would be. He made plenty of suggestions that saved me time and money. When we did run into the inevitable unforeseen issue, he had an answer for it in no time.

In the end, my project was completed in time, as promised to save me from paying another month’s rent and also shortening the construction loan phase. In the end it turned out beautiful, professionally done without any mishaps, sticker shocks or misunderstandings.

I would recommend Scholl Construction to anyone. I will not be looking anywhere else for a general contractor in the future.’

Chuck S. – Algonquin, IL

The owner of Diamond Physical Therapy in Algonquin, Illinois, bought a 4000 square feet freestanding building. He asked Scholl Construction to help build out 3000 square feet of the space for his Physical Therapy business, leaving 1000 square feet to rent out to another business. As part of the build-out, there is plenty of room for therapy and equipment, as well as private office space and an employee break room with washrooms.

Diamond Physical Therapy discovered that many of their clients lived on the west side of the river in Algonquin, Illinois. The owner bought a unit in a strip mall and opened a second office. Scholl Construction was pleased to be hired for the second time to complete the build out for this client. We reconfigured existing walls, created a waiting area, a large room for therapy and equipment with a private examining room, break room and washrooms.

Residential Remodel/Addition

‘We have lived in the house – new home really, for it now functions completely differently. We are extremely pleased with the changes in terms of how the new layout works and also the quality of the work. We have had no problems since our final sign-off. We are impressed especially with the quality of the woodwork and attention to structural needs. We were also impressed with the crew; everyone was so competent and a pleasure to work with.’

Catherine F. and Kevin S. – Crystal Lake, IL

The key to an historic renovation is to keep the look and feel of the original structure. Built in 1938 the home was originally a hotel located in Crystal Lake, Illinois, right on the water. Scholl Construction helped the homeowners update and add features. The original 2 story home had 4 bedrooms, a bath and a half and had 4100 square feet of living area. We removed the mud room and powder room from the front of the house, added a 510 square foot addition, 2 full bathrooms, and remodeled the exterior and most of the interior. A new roof was installed, and the aluminum siding was replaced with cement siding that looks like wood and is maintenance free. Most of the windows were replaced. There are 2 new laundry rooms; a small one on the first floor, good for summer beach towel laundry and one on the second floor. We did some period tile work in the bathroom and foyer.

Residential

‘We built our home during a time when real estate took a hard hit which in turn meant we had less money for our custom built, dream home. Peter worked with us closely to make our dollar stretch as far as we could make it go.’

Jim and Debby C. – Union, IL

With the kids gone, this couple was looking for something different than the city living they were used to. They found a secluded lot near Union, Illinois. Scholl Construction began work on the 4200 square foot, 3 bedrooms, 3 bath single story home with a crawl space and attached 2 car side load garage in January. It was ready for occupancy in June. Highlights include a fireplace, vaulted ceilings, granite countertops in the kitchen, and a screened-in porch as well as a concrete porch in the rear of the house.

Residential Remodel

‘I enjoyed working with Pete and Dave with Scholl Construction. Pete was organized and professional. Dave was a great problem solver and always eager to ensure that the customer was happy. I have, and will continue to, recommend Scholl Construction to friends looking to create a home addition or remodel a large project in their home.

Scholl has all of the administrative tools of a big construction company; contracts, estimating, change orders, insurance policies, etc. With those tools they are very flexible and capable of making changes quickly and communicating them to the customer in a clear and concise manner.’

Chris and Megan J. – Algonquin, IL

This couple bought their home in Algonquin, Illinois, moving there from out of state. Scholl Construction completed their whole house remodel before they moved in. We moved walls around upstairs to reconfigure the rooms, updated flooring throughout, installed reclaimed wood accent walls as well as tile accent walls, remodeled bathrooms and the master suite and added a fresh coat of paint throughout.

Commercial Construction

‘I want to say it was a real pleasure to work with you and your team at Scholl Construction. They were all excellent craftsmen and more importantly, a pleasure to deal with.’

Jeff – Palatine, IL

Reverend John Scott of Crosspoint Lutheran Church began talks with the village planner and board members about a proposal satellite church in Lakewood, Illinois. Rezoning was requested and approved for the remodeling of two retail units into a church in Lakewood. Scholl Construction was hired and the build-out was underway.

Scholl Construction was responsible for steel stud framing, dropped ceiling, plumbing, electrical, heating, drywall and installation of doors and hardware. The church had a great group of volunteers who worked alongside Scholl Construction, painting, completing trim work, hanging electrical fixtures and installing cabinets.

The second job Scholl Construction did for this client was remodeling the kitchen at the original church in Palatine. We replaced the kitchen that had not been updated since the 1970s and was not effective in serving the congregation. We gutted the existing kitchen, expanded it into a storage area, added an entrance into the gym area, installed new appliances, cabinets, fixtures, flooring and made built in coffee makers. We removed the ceiling and added sprinklers and fireproofed the ceiling.

Residential

‘Peter Scholl is an outstanding and dedicated building contractor. In a world with cheats and charlatans, Mr. Scholl is a rare honest and hard-working man. The job was done professionally and in a timely fashion. Any problems that were encountered were overcome in a transparent and expedited fashion. I have recommended him to my best friends and will continue to do so.’

Chris and Megan S. – Arlington Heights, IL

Scholl Construction transformed this small ranch home into a brick standout. A free standing 2 car garage was added to the backyard. An updated foyer was added as well as a fireplace in the living room. The whole home was remodeled, and a new roof and windows were installed.

Residential Remodel

‘I used Scholl Construction on a previous extensive home remodel, and when this project came up, there was no hesitation to call them for additional work. I really enjoyed working with Pete and his crew.

Very good workmanship, and Pete was very engaged in supervising the project to ensure the work was high quality, and timely.

Scholl Construction was a great partner in the workmanship, professionalism, and cost effective building contractor. I would strongly recommend them. They are a “class act” when it comes to completion and business partner.’

Jack H. – Crystal Lake, IL

Scholl Construction was able to update this home in Crystal Lake, Illinois with new siding, new roof, a new fence, and new windows on a screened in porch inside the pool area.

After this project was completed, we moved on to help this owner’s son and daughter-in-law renovate the family home that they had moved into after the grandmother had passed away. It included remodeling the bathrooms, refurbishing some of the kitchen and flooring, replacing all the windows and installing new heating and cooling systems.   The upstairs floor plan was reworked to include a bathroom, bedrooms and closets.

Residential

‘The whole experience was overwhelming but Peter and his team were always there to explain any questions that we had! We would build again with Scholl Construction. We are so happy with our custom built home… just love it! Thank you Peter and your rockstar team!’

John and Cathy – Woodstock, IL

This home was built for a couple that was looking for a ranch style, lower maintenance home in Woodstock, Illinois. The house includes 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, an open concept kitchen and living area, dining room and extra-large garage for all of their hobbies.  They were retiring to country living and this home offers plenty of windows as well as a 4 season room to enjoy the view.

Residential Remodel

‘I’m most satisfied with the frequent contact from Peter Scholl. He oversaw the project and met with us every step of the way. We had countless changes as we discovered more work that needed to be done. It was supposed to be a small repair, but we started removing portions of the wall with more damage behind. So we had to replace the wall and some windows. But he kept us updated. We understood the cost differential, and they stuck within the quotes.

They did a great job. We’ll use them for any other projects. We have confidence in them and depend on them completely.’

Al and Dorothy F. – Carpentersville, IL

This home had been vacant for many years resulting in water damage throughout. Scholl Construction came in to remodel 2 bathrooms, replace the roof, siding and windows, remove a hot tub and rebuild 2 decks. Both the first and the second story back walls of the house were rotted with water damage. Resulting in replacing studs, structural headers, insulation, drywall and siding.

Commercial Construction

‘I first contacted Scholl Construction to bid for a job at my Crystal Lake Depot that included a Depot Office and Warehouse remodel and upgrade. The time frame to completion for this project was extremely tight and a complete office remodel was needed due to moldy carpet.

Scholl Construction handled everything beautifully. Communication between Peter Scholl and not only me, but the staff at the depot was second to none. There were even a few items that did not work the way I had expected and I needed some rework to be completed. Peter handled the rework without complaint and we were able to negotiate and agree to a price that did not hurt my budget or hurt his costs.

After the first project was completed I had a complete parking lot and dock grading issue project at another Depot in Ottawa, IL. The parking lot needed to be lowered 8” to support the loading and unloading of delivery trucks. It all needed to be paved in concrete. An employee parking lot needed to be established and paved as well. The other large issue with this parking lot was grandfathered for sheet draining and proper drainage as required by the City of Ottawa.

Peter worked tirelessly negotiating with the city and civil engineers to develop a plan that the City of Ottawa would approve and still keep the project within my extremely tight budget. After my project was approved and Peter went to obtain the permit, the City of Ottawa changed their minds and requested additional work to be completed. I figured the additional work would be way over budget and I would have to request additional funds. He was able to negotiate lower rates from his contracted construction workers in order to maintain my budget and still make the project come out a success and completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule which was critical because Fall was quickly approaching.

Peter worked tirelessly on my 24,000 plus sq. ft. parking lot project. His efforts to get the City of Ottawa to approve the drawings and issue a permit were again second to none. I had worked with 2 other contractors on this project. The first contractor was a very large company that could not meet my budget needs. In addition the contractor would not spend any time working with the City of Ottawa.
The second contractor was a local contractor from Ottawa and he backed out of the project. Scholl Construction was the only building contractor I could find that could do the job and I have to say that I was lucky to have him do the job.

During the Ottawa Parking Lot Project I had another project at my plant in Rockford that involved rebuilding a dock. The dock level was too steep and the needed to be leveled out. In addition the hand rail and edge of dock leveler was falling off the dock and the cantilevered edge was starting to crack and crumble. I had received quotes from 2 other local contractors and Scholl Construction was the most competitive bid. Not only was the bid well within my budget, but he was able to complete the project while he was working on the Ottawa Project. The project was completed within 2 weeks which was 1 week sooner than he had planned. This was critical because this dock was 1 of only 2 semi docks at this location and critical that it was back on line ASAP.

The 4th project that Scholl Construction completed for me was building 6 private offices at the Arlington Heights facility. Peter was able to develop a proposal for the complete project extremely quickly. His bid was lower and more detailed than the other 3 contractors that submitted proposals for the project. After bidding the project the local management wanted to make changes to the scope of work by adding a door through the concrete block fire wall.

The work was done flawlessly and fast with minimal disturbances to the admin office areas. Scholl’s construction crews were able to cut the hole into the admin offices without leaving a huge mess or disrupting office operations. This was critical because the office was also occupied with a sales staff that had to make calls to customers.

The project was completed on time and under budget. Peter’s communication was again second to none during this project. Any changes that needed to be made were communicated quickly. He also worked tirelessly to please not only me, but the local management as well. Pleasing local management was critical because the other contractors that submitted bids were obtained by the local management and one contractor was a relative of a sales associate.

I handle 13 plants and 37 depots across 7 states. I have dealt with countless amounts of contractors; some good, some bad. Scholl Construction is second to none. Peter Scholl’s attention to detail, communication abilities, integrity and honesty are impeccable. Scholl Construction’s versatility is unbeatable. He was able to do heavy construction and then turn around and able to do exceptional office finish work.

I will continue to utilize the services of Scholl Construction for many years to come and I believe that I have established an excellent working relationship with Peter Scholl.’

Todd R. – Aramark, Rockford, IL

Residential Remodel

‘We are happy with the finished product. Peter Scholl provided excellent communication when some issues came up along the way and we appreciated his strong desire to make sure we were satisfied with their work. Somehow he always managed to keep calm. He responded to our questions or concerns quickly. Demo crew, electrician, tile work and plumber were all great.’

Meghan and Doug D. – Long Grove, IL

Extensive remodeling was done to this home – we moved and changed doors and layout for a master suite and bathroom, took out a large whirlpool tub replacing it with a large enclosed shower and a soaking tub. We remodeled the hall/children’s bathroom, took up carpeting and laid down hardwood floors, updated the staircase, de-brassed the fixtures and added can lighting.

Residential Remodel

‘Communication was always prompt and clear. We knew what was expected of us and when your people would be coming and going, and what they would accomplish. Your vendors did good and timely work; especially Brian, the tile guy, who was extra patient and detail oriented as he laid our patterned tile floor. Scholl’s ability to anticipate issues and potential delays kept our project clipping along. We will be using Scholl again and recommending them to friends/family/colleagues. Their performance was marked by unanticipated professionalism.’

Dan and Kathy R. – Crystal Lake, IL

We finished the lower level of this home, turning it into a home office, remodeled the bathroom and rebuilt the staircase into the basement.

Commercial Construction

‘Working with Scholl Construction and all of the sub-contractors was the BEST experience I have ever had when having a major construction project completed. Every part of the project was completed in a timely fashion. The schedule for completion of each step of the project was followed nearly to perfection. The area of construction was left in a neat and tidy condition each day. Employees and patients were able to use the entryway during construction without any safety concerns. Every concern I had during the construction was addressed in a timely and efficient manner. Scholl Construction gets a ‘10’ in every aspect of delivery of the project!!! Thanks Peter.’

Dr. Fred F. DDS – Crystal Lake, IL

Over the years, Scholl Construction has helped College Hill Professional Building update their offices in Crystal Lake, Illinois. We improved on the look of the front of the building with an expanded balcony on the upper level. We installed an extensive ice melting system on the roof, replaced many exterior doors and windows and reroofed the entire structure. Scholl Construction built a garbage enclosure to hide the dumpsters.

Scholl Construction also remodel the entire inside of Dr. Fred’s home. The latest project helped them take advantage of a beautiful backyard by adding a deck across the entire back of the house and a screened in porch.

Residential Remodel

‘The management of Scholl Construction was very professional and strived to ensure our satisfaction especially when things did not go as planned. Overall we were pleased with the level of work with their contractors. The communications from Dave and Pete to meet our timelines and keeping me informed were great. We would definitely recommend them and have done so already.’

Tony B. – McHenry, IL

This remodeling project on a house on Pistakee Bay consisted of work on 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a bar and painting the home.

Residential Remodel/Addition

‘We are very pleased with our multi-bathroom remodel project. Scholl Construction is a reliable company and preforms quality work.’

Aimee and Richard D – Crystal Lake, IL

This townhome in Crystal Lake, Illinois got a significant renovation. The bathrooms were in dire need of updating. The master suite had a large whirlpool tub that was transformed into a beautiful tiled shower. Scholl Construction ripped off the deck and built a screened in porch with a new deck above.

Residential

‘Scholl construction worked with us from beginning to end to build us a house of our dreams. Peter was very organized and his subcontractors were great. Our custom built home was built to specs within budget.’

Mike and Sandy H. – Woodstock, IL

Scholl Construction built this custom house on a small lake in Woodstock, Illinois. These clients approached us about building a new home. They owned land and had erected a barn, installed electric, drilled a well, planted trees and installed a driveway to maintain the land. They spent their free time continuously improving the land and envisioning the house they would one day build.

They had different plans they had drawn, or found on the internet. We got the budget and vision together and they worked with an architect to finish the plans. We started in November, working through the winter and they moved in soon after they sold their home in the spring. We are all happy with the peaceful setting and the beautiful home we built. Another successful project!

Commercial Construction

‘Peter was very pleasant to work with. He made sure everything was done to meet our requirements. The bathrooms look beautiful. We’ve received so many comments on how nice they look. Overall they did a wonderful job for us.’

Regional Sports Center – Crystal Lake, IL

Scholl Construction was contacted to update the washrooms in the Regional Sports Center in Ridgefield, Illinois. Both the men’s and women’s washrooms were updated with new tile, paint and doors along with shower areas.

Residential Remodel

‘Scholl put together a team of competent subcontractors and managed them efficiently. Pete was quick and courteous in responding to questions, requests and necessary adjustments.’

Greg and Marianne M. – Wilmette, IL

In this historic home renovation, we de-pickled (whitewashed) the entire house that included stripping the oak doors, trim, baseboard moldings down to the bare wood and refinishing them. We rebuilt the fireplace, gutted and moved walls around to remodel the kitchen, replaced windows and the roof. We refinished all the flooring in the house and painted all the rooms. The home was retro fitted with 2 high velocity space pack air conditioning units as it had never been air conditioned before.

Residential Remodel/Addition

‘Peter Scholl helped us so much with our addition to an older house we purchased. We needed someone to coordinate all the different trades and to see they were on the job when we needed them. Peter did all the calling to make sure the sub-contractors were on the job when they were supposed to be there. He was on site every time some work was being done. He got all the important trades, such as concrete workers, backfill workers, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, heating & air conditioning companies. He arranged for the building inspectors to come approve the progress. We never could have finished this project as efficiently and in the shortest time possible! Peter is a conscientious and very knowledgeable person and went out of his way to help us get moved into our home.’

Leonard and Dolores B. – Genoa City, WI

A vacation cottage turned into a tiny home (about 600 square feet)…  after this couple retired, their life consisted of traveling. They didn’t need a large house but someplace to use as a base to call home. They purchased a cottage in Genoa City, WI, and started the renovation process. Scholl Construction turned the home into a year-round residence, added a garage, insulated against the elements, reroofed, installed new siding and a completely updated interior.

Residential Remodel

‘Peter was on top of the project from day one. He came every day to make sure the workers were doing the job in a timely manner. He corrected any construction problems before they were even started. We wanted our room completed for a big family celebration date, and he had the job done on time. It was perfect. We did not need to call him back to the job for any punch list. We didn’t have one.’

Janet and Jim C. – Vernon Hills, IL

This couple had an unfinished walkout lower lever that they wanted to finish for hobbies and family gatherings. The project included installing a bar, bathroom, seating area, pool table area, open concept living room and entertainment center. A workshop was also added in the back.

Commercial Construction

‘I was pleased with the way your people did both of my jobs, and I am happy that we had no problems. You can certainly use me as a reference.’

George – Woodstock, IL

This client owned a commercial property with multiple tenants in Woodstock. When a laundromat moved out, Scholl Construction was hired to gut the unit and turn it into 2 vanilla/white box units making it ready for 2 new potential businesses. Scholl Construction was then hired by Rosati’s to expand the restaurant into one of the new units, allowing them to provide sit down service and a bar.

The second job we did for this client was with an existing tenant. They needed offices reconfigured and a server room built with separate heating and cooling.

Residential Remodel

‘The work was done very well. All construction issues were remediated quickly. The quality of the work done by almost all subcontractors, especially the carpenters and electricians, was very good. Very positive. I would highly recommend the company.’

Ted and Debbie G.

The 1970s home had a sunken living room that people kept falling into. The homeowners wanted to build up the room to the same level as the rest of the first floor. In the process we removed a load bearing wall between the living room and the kitchen and added a structural flush header in the attic. This change allowed us to expand the kitchen creating a more open concept living area. The entire kitchen was remodeled as well as the back porch. Windows and doors were replaced, and a new coat of paint was added to the home.

Residential Remodel

‘Thanks for the advice on what products would give us the best value and the following up making sure everything was done to our liking. You did an excellent job in making everything blend in, like it was originally.’

Arthur B. – Huntley, IL

Scholl Construction completed multiple jobs for this client. The jobs included turning a back porch into a 4-season room, replacing windows, installing new doors, and building needed storage in the attic with insulation. We also installed a new roof with gutters and an ice melt system, reworked heating and cooling for a more balanced system, installed can lighting throughout and a fresh coat of paint.

Residential Remodel

‘Nice Company. Attention to detail. Always responded quickly to phone calls and questions. Took care of all minor problems at completion of job. Reasonably priced. Nice to work with.’

Jodi and Jay A. – Crystal Lake, IL

In this home, the master suite was remodeled reconfiguring closets extending the bathroom suite into the bedroom. We removed a large tub and created a walk-in shower. Carpet was removed and hardwood flooring was installed throughout as well as new paint.

Residential Remodel

‘We are very pleased with the extensive home remodel that Scholl Construction completed for us. Peter was always very prompt in getting back to us on quotes, questions, problems, etc. Peter was also very accessible by phone or e-mail. The tradesmen who completed the various phases of construction were not only skilled, but also friendly and very nice to have around. We particularly were grateful to John, the carpenter, who helped redesign our bar plan. The workers cleaned up after themselves and kept the site neat. Peter worked with us to make changes when some of our plans were too costly for us. He came up with more affordable alternatives. Scholl Construction was a pleasure to work with. We are very happy with our new living area.’

Don and Joan C. – Oakwood Hills, IL

This project included finishing the basement and bar and remodeling the kitchen. We rebuilt the front porch, replaced some windows, and turned a screened in area into an extended part of the basement.

Residential Remodel

‘I heard about them from the architect that I did my first project with. They were very easy to work with to get what I wanted. He’s done two projects for me, and if I need another one done, I’ll call him.’

Jack F. – Green Oaks, IL

This was a unique project. The homeowners’ beautiful property backed up to Interstate 294. Scholl Construction was brought in to sound insulate and enhance the beauty of the exterior of the home. We removed the existing siding, extended the roof overhangs, added architectural details, reroofed, and installed special sound insulating board that was several inches thick with layers of metal and foam in it. We installed furring strips to provide an air-gap sound barrier. For the windows, we installed a combination of either triple paned windows or double paned windows with an additional sound barrier window system on the interior of the traditional windows. What was once a home with around the clock, loud traffic noise became a comfortably quiet house.

The second project for this customer was also quite unique. He is an avid woodworker and had run out of room in his basement for all his woodworking equipment and materials. The home had a large crawl space that he wanted converted to a full basement. We lifted the right side of the home off the foundation and excavated for a full basement. We poured a full depth foundation and set the home back on its new basement foundation.

We came back for a third project where we replaced skylights, remodeled the kitchen, installed a cantilevered window area in the living room, refaced the fireplace, remodeled the powder room and installed new hardwood floors on the first level.

Residential Remodel

‘The subcontractors were nice and professional.’

Mike and Alyce K.

For this client we remodeled the basement into an in-law living space making the space accessible for aging parents. The space included an electric chair to safely transport people up and down the stairs. There was a bedroom, bathroom, living room area and bar.

Residential Remodel

‘We were very pleased with our extensive home remodel. Things went pretty smoothly and the project was finished within the estimated time frame. All those who worked on our house were professional and personable. And the office staff was great – especially with all the phone calls and e-mails we made and sent. Our experience with Scholl was positive and we would gladly use them again.’

Ken and Cindy R. – Crystal Lake, IL

The remodeling in the house was to make sure this disabled WWII veteran could easily live in his home. We remodeled the kitchen, bathroom and other parts of the home to be more accessible to his wheelchair.

‘Peter Scholl was a great help to us in determining the best way to update the curb appeal of our home. He is very knowledgeable and up to date on the latest materials and styles. Peter was always just a phone call away and was on the site whenever needed. We relied on his expertise in finishing our makeover in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. We added to the job, more than once, as it was in process and Peter was very courteous and ‘hung in there’ with us with the utmost patience. The front of our home went from plain and boring to different and beautiful. To say that we are pleased with the results would be nothing short of an understatement. We always get such great comments from neighbors and passersby. Not only would we hire Scholl Construction without hesitation in the future, Peter is currently in the process of writing up our next contract.’

Susan and Barry S. – Lake In The Hills, IL

A complete exterior remodel of this house included removing and replacing siding, rebuilding the porch columns and adding arches. We replaced windows, door and installed a new roof.

Commercial Construction

‘Excellent job! Scholl Construction did an outstanding job of coordinating this project. There was no interruption in our operations. The job was done quickly and professionally. Thank you, Pete and crew, for a job well done.’

Keith M. – Huntley Fire Dept., Huntley, IL

Scholl Construction was hired to renovate various projects for the new use of this building before the fire department moved to their newly constructed facility. The main part of this job was to replace doors and add new doors into existing masonry walls.

After this client retired, we remodeled their kitchen in their home. They wanted a larger kitchen and more open living space. The solution was to remove a load bearing structural wall between the living room and the kitchen and expanded the cabinets into a former eating area. The result is a beautiful kitchen that opens into the living room with an island for food prep, sink for clean up and seating for quick meals.

Residential Remodel

‘We’re enjoying the porch that you upgraded for us. Betty and I talked recently how that was one of the best things we’ve done with our home. That space before wasn’t used all that much, and now it opened up our living space so nicely and it’s my spot for camping out to read the paper, relax and watch my sports on TV. I watched the Blackhawks game out there last night. We really enjoy it. The stove in the winter time works out so well. It heats up that space perfectly and it’s fun to sit out there with the windows opened up and watch the snow fall and enjoy the stove.’

Roy – Algonquin, IL

This Algonquin family is a repeat customer to Scholl Construction. Jobs include turning a screened in porch into a heated and cooled 4 season room with a fireplace; replacing the roof and replacing exterior doors; remodeling the laundry room and coming soon… remodeling the master suite.

‘I have dealt with other firms in the past and would have to say that Scholl Construction was a breath of fresh air. The work that was done on my condo in Chicago was top notch and the professionalism everyone showed was fantastic. The most impressive thing, other than the completed job, was the communication and follow up I received from Scholl Construction. I highly recommend them to anyone and will definitely use them again in the future.’

Jim and Jill P. – Woodstock, IL

A traditional saltbox style home has the living area on the top floor. The owner of this house had degenerate hip disease and it was getting harder to use the stairs. She wanted improvements to her home so she would age in place. We installed an elevator with stops at the garage level, first floor and upper level. We finished the lower level, remodeled the kitchen and bar area, and completed repairs to the interior and exterior. A new deck was built around the pool.

Testimonials from Colleagues

‘It has been my pleasure to have worked with clients who have contracted with Scholl Construction to have their custom home built. As an interior designer, I help my clients select and design every exterior and interior finish for their new home. Working with my clients, it is evident that Peter Scholl pays attention to all details in the entire scope of building a project from the ground up. Today it takes a small army of professionals to have a home built. Scholl’s work begins long before any shovel enters the ground on a project. Peter listens intently to his clients to learn exactly how they want their home to function and look. These meeting also include in depth conversations about budget. Working closely with the architect, all aspects of the project are mapped out. Scholl has great knowledge of each municipalities required codes and makes certain all codes are met. There is always open communication between Scholl Construction and the clients. Trade professionals are scheduled and often rescheduled due to things like weather, adjustments for time conflicts and normal construction issues. Steadily and continuously, timelines are met and the home is completed. Scholl never stops until the client is happy and loves their new custom home.
